Technical Transparency

MINOMO notifications,
explained for real

What they are, how they reach your device, what technology they use, and what level of privacy they guarantee. No marketing, no impossible promises: just the technical facts.

Standard Web Push notifications

MINOMO uses the Web Push protocol, the open standard defined by the W3C and IETF (RFC 8030 and RFC 8291) and natively implemented by all modern browsers. It's the same technology used by millions of websites worldwide β€” from news outlets to banking PWAs β€” and was designed from the ground up to protect the privacy of message content.

πŸ“‘

Open standard

Web Push is a public standard (W3C Push API + IETF RFC 8030/8291). No proprietary protocols, no technology lock-in.

🌐

Browser & native app

Works directly in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Brave, and Opera. For those who prefer it, a native app for iOS and Android is also available with the same optimised experience.

πŸ”

E2E content encryption

Every notification's payload is encrypted with ECDH + AES128-GCM from the server all the way to the browser. Only your device holds the key to decrypt it.

The journey of a notification

When a user chooses to follow a merchant or creator, the browser independently generates a cryptographic key pair. From that moment on, every notification travels encrypted all the way to the user's device β€” and only they can read it.

Browser Push Service

Your Device
Decrypts using the browser's private key and displays the notification
The "Browser Push Service" is a standard technical component of the protocol (Mozilla AutoPush for Firefox, FCM for Chrome/Edge, APNs for Safari).
It receives only encrypted data: it cannot read the content of notifications, nor identify which merchant is sending them.

What MINOMO actually guarantees

We want to be precise: we don't promise the impossible, but the following guarantees are concrete, verifiable, and built into our technical architecture.

  • End-to-end encryption of content. Every notification is encrypted on our server using the public key generated by your browser, and can only be decrypted by your device. It is mathematically impossible for anyone β€” including MINOMO β€” to read the content in transit.
  • No advertising broker in the middle. MINOMO does not rely on commercial tracking platforms such as OneSignal, Pusher, Airship, Mailchimp, or similar services. Messages travel directly from our server to the browser's standard Web Push protocol.
  • Identity reduced to the bare minimum. Following a merchant and receiving notifications requires no phone number, address book, identity document, or social account. The only piece of data required is your email address, used solely to recover your profile if you change devices. No other personal data is collected or shared.
  • Merchants don't see who you are. A merchant sending a notification only sees the aggregate count of their followers and delivery statistics. They have no access to your email address, device identifier, contacts, or personal data.
  • Ephemeral on device. Notifications arrive, are shown, and disappear once read or dismissed. They don't accumulate in any inbox, leave no readable personal archive, and cannot be forwarded or searched by third parties.
  • No tracking pixels, no link wrappers. We do not embed tracking images, beacons, or third-party masked links inside notifications. Destination links are direct.
  • Explicit opt-in, always. To receive notifications from a merchant you must actively choose it: first by granting permission to the browser, then by following that specific merchant. Without opt-in, zero notifications. Spam is structurally impossible.
  • Instant one-click revocation. You can unfollow a single merchant, temporarily pause a page, deselect entire interest categories, or completely disable notifications from the browser. Every revocation is instant and effective β€” no need to contact anyone.

πŸ“‹ Full transparency in the Privacy Policy

Everything we collect, why we collect it, how long we retain it, and who we share it with is detailed in our Privacy Policy. Compliant with EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR).

Four levels of control

MINOMO gives you precise tools to tune what you receive, from whom, and when. Every setting is immediate, reversible, and entirely in your hands β€” directly in the app, no forms to fill in, no requests to submit.

🎯
Categories
You select the interests that apply to you (Food, Shopping, Beauty…) and broadcast communications are filtered accordingly.
⏸️
Single Pause
Temporarily pause notifications from a specific merchant without unfollowing them.
πŸ‘‹
Unfollow
Stop following a merchant in one click. Their subscription is removed from your device immediately.
πŸ”•
Full Disable
Disable all MINOMO notifications directly from your browser settings, at any time.

No unsubscribe emails, no forms, no phone calls

Every control is exposed in a single settings screen within the app. No hidden procedures, no pushy "stay with us" prompts, no artificial delays. Revocation takes effect immediately on our server and in your browser.

What we collect, and why

To run the service, we need to store certain technical data. We don't hide it β€” on the contrary, we declare it openly here and in the Privacy Policy. These are strictly the data points required to deliver the right notifications to the right devices, nothing more.

πŸ“Š Technical data retained for operation

Device identifier An opaque code generated by the browser, not linked to your personal identity
Web Push endpoint A technical URL provided by the browser, required to deliver the message
Interest categories Those you selected yourself in the settings
City / location The one you chose yourself, to filter local content
Followed merchants list You only hear from the ones you actually care about
Aggregate delivery statistics Anonymous counts (delivered, clicked) to measure service quality
Email address The only contact detail required. Used exclusively to recover your profile if you change devices. Never sold to third parties, never used for advertising profiling.

EU Storage

Data is stored on servers located within the European Union (Germany), in compliance with the GDPR. All transfers to non-EU providers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

Four pillars, one line each

If you need to remember just four things about MINOMO notifications, remember these.

πŸ”

End-to-end encrypted

Only your device can read the content. That's mathematics, not a promise.

🎯

Your choice, always

Nothing arrives without an explicit opt-in. Spam is structurally impossible.

⏱️

Ephemeral

They arrive, you read them, they're gone. No personal archive, no inbox that fills up.

🎚️

Under your control

Categories, pause, unfollow, full disable: all one click away, always reversible.

Want to see it in action?
